Availability
The commands on this page follow the published repository contract. They start working without any change once the repository key and metadata are online.
Repository layout
- Base URL: https://packages.tastegeo.com
- APT (Debian, Ubuntu): distribution stable, component main, architecture amd64
- RPM (RHEL, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, Fedora): channel stable, architecture x86_64
- Package name: tastegeo
Both repositories are signed. APT verifies the InRelease and Release.gpg metadata with the TasteGeo archive key, and DNF verifies both the RPM package signature and the repomd.xml metadata signature.
Debian and Ubuntu (APT)
Install the archive key into its own keyring and register the repository with signed-by, so the key is trusted only for TasteGeo packages.
curl -fsSL https://packages.tastegeo.com/tastegeo-archive-keyring.gpg \
| sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/tastegeo-archive-keyring.gpg >/dev/null
echo "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/tastegeo-archive-keyring.gpg] https://packages.tastegeo.com stable main" \
| sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tastegeo.list >/dev/null
sudo apt update
sudo apt install tastegeoCheck the candidate version and the repository it comes from:
apt-cache policy tastegeoRHEL, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux and Fedora (DNF)
Download the repository definition. DNF asks you to confirm the TasteGeo RPM signing key the first time it installs a package.
sudo curl -fsSL https://packages.tastegeo.com/rpm/tastegeo.repo \
-o /etc/yum.repos.d/tastegeo.repo
sudo dnf install tastegeoThe repository definition enables package and metadata signature checks:
[tastegeo-stable]
name=TasteGeo stable
baseurl=https://packages.tastegeo.com/rpm/stable/$basearch/
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
repo_gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://packages.tastegeo.com/rpm/RPM-GPG-KEY-TASTEGEO
metadata_expire=5mUpdates
# Debian, Ubuntu
sudo apt update
sudo apt install --only-upgrade tastegeo
# RHEL family
sudo dnf upgrade tastegeoA version is published once. The repository never replaces the contents of an existing version, so the same version number always refers to the same package bytes.
Removal
# Debian, Ubuntu
sudo apt remove tastegeo
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tastegeo.list /usr/share/keyrings/tastegeo-archive-keyring.gpg
sudo apt update
# RHEL family
sudo dnf remove tastegeo
sudo rm /etc/yum.repos.d/tastegeo.repoRemoving the package keeps the repository registered. Delete the repository files as shown when you no longer want TasteGeo updates.
Install the DEB package directly
Until the APT repository is online, download the DEB package from the download center, verify it, and install it with apt so dependencies are resolved. Replace <version> with the version you downloaded.
sha256sum tastedev-geo-<version>-linux-x86_64.deb
sudo apt install ./tastedev-geo-<version>-linux-x86_64.debTroubleshooting
- NO_PUBKEY or "The following signatures couldn't be verified": download the archive key again to /usr/share/keyrings/tastegeo-archive-keyring.gpg and check that the signed-by path in tastegeo.list matches it.
- Signature or metadata errors with DNF: run sudo dnf clean metadata and retry. If the key was rotated, remove the old key with rpm -e gpg-pubkey-<id> and import the new one.
- Never work around a signature error with [trusted=yes], gpgcheck=0 or repo_gpgcheck=0. Report the error through the bug board instead.
- Release file is not valid yet: check that the system clock is correct.
